Sue Davey joined SMMP on July 1, 2008 as Director of Religious Education. As the DRE she is responsible for the early faith formation of the children of the parish from 3 years old through 5th grade. The Religious Education Program includes approximately 800 children as well as 160 Catechists and more than 50 other volunteers in the program. Besides weekly classes, Sue is responsible for the Sacramental programs for both Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. She is also responsible for and will act as a resource for the coordinators of our other children’s programs: Vacation Bible School, Liturgy of the Word, and Children’s Masses.
Prior to coming to SMMP, Sue was a catechist, grade level coordinator and program coordinator at Our Lady of Mercy parish in Aurora. In addition, Sue worked full time as a paralegal at the law firm of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP in Chicago. She is enjoying the opportunity provided by SMMP to work full time with children and their parents in the faith formation programs. Sue has a B.S. in Business Administration from DePaul University of Chicago and an M.A. in Religious Education from Loyola University of Chicago.
Sue, who is proud of her “South Side Irish” [Chicago] heritage, has been a resident of Aurora since 1993. For several years she was a docent at Brookfield Zoo as well as a naturalist at the Wildlife Prairie Park in Peoria. She loves to travel to locations where she can pursue her passion for nature photography and birding. When at home she enjoys her free time by quilting, scrap booking and rubberstamping.
