Sound Enhancement Devices
Our parish has a limited number of sound enhancement devices that can be used during Mass for those who may be hearing impaired. These devices can be used alone or with you own hearing aid or headphones. Please see one of our greeters before Mass if you would like to borrow a set during Mass to enhance your experience.
Gluten Free Hosts for Eucharist
St. Margaret Mary tries to allow members or visitors with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities to participate fully in the Eucharistic Liturgy by making Gluten Free Hosts available for use. The hosts we use are approved by the USCCB, which means they are made of wheat (with the gluten removed) and water, and are baked. We are not permitted to use other ingredients.
In the process of removing the gluten from the wheat, a very minute amount might be left, typically less than 10 parts per million (ppm). Anything with less than 20 ppm is considered “gluten free” by such organization as the National Celiac Association, hence the designation “gluten free”.
1. A table at the entrance of the church has a container with the gluten free wafers inside, and a set of tweezers for removing one of the wafers and placing it into the large pyx beside the container.
2. Please place the needed number of wafers into the pyx, which will be brought up in the presentation of gifts.
3. During Communion, this pyx and its hosts will be at the Communion Station nearest the Baptismal Font for distribution. If there is no Eucharist Minister at the wall near the baptismal font, the Communion station in the closest main side aisle will have the consecrated hosts.
4. When you come up for Communion, ask the person there for a “gluten free host” and they will distribute that to you from the pyx.
If you have any questions, please contact Deacon Ken Miles through the parish office or his email.
