Religious Education classes for 6th – 8th grade
The Religious Education Program runs weekly from September through May.
- Mondays: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays: 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.
- Wednesdays: 4:45 – 5:45 p.m. & 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Special events and holidays during the Religious Education year are communicated to parents via e-mail through Constant Contact. It is imperative that we have a valid e-mail address for your family — one that you check frequently. We no longer provide paper flyers or mailings!
We invite all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders into our weekly sessions to address four areas of their development – Prayer, Community, Service, and Faith Formation. Small groups spend time integrating their faith into their everyday lives through prayer, catechesis and discussion. They are facilitated by parents and young adults who have a passionate faith and know how to create a safe environment for our youth to grow. We use Our Sunday Visitor’s Call to Faith Junior High Thematic Series featuring engaging stories and explorations of relevant topics and themes, Scripture and Tradition, meaningful activities, prayer, faith at home resources, and a variety of features that inspire young adolescents to truly explore, understand, and live their faith.
Altaration – 7th Grade Supplemental series
Teens today are surrounded by distractions: music fills their ears, while tweets and posts are constantly checked and updated. They have been conditioned to fill any silent moment with noise and stimulation. Instilling an appreciation and enthusiasm for the Mass can be a challenge.
Altaration: The Mystery of the Mass Revealed is a new five week study on the Mass for teens that features powerful cinematography, inspiring presenters, and engaging workbook resources. Altaration uses humor, stories, and small group discussion to capture your teen’s attention and instill in them a deep and lasting love for the Mass. This will take place between the Jesus Christ and the Churchthematic books. We also hope to have a teaching Mass at the end of the program.

Theology of the Body for Teens: Middle School Edition – 8th Grade Supplemental series
We are introducing an exciting new program called Theology of the Body for Teens: Middle School Edition into our 8th grade program this year between our Morality and Kingdom of God thematic books. . This curriculum is based on Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, which offers a very positive message of the gift of sexuality as a good and essential part of love and life. It is our hope that this curriculum will provide your child(ren) with the knowledge and understanding they need concerning the meaning and purpose of their identity, their sexuality and of their very existence.
You can visit TOBforTeens.com for more information on the program.
Protecting God’s Children
Diocesan policy requires all new volunteers who are working with children to attend a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.
